When Christian came to The Fighting Chance he was facing a number of challenges.
He was claiming benefits, he had issues around finding somewhere to live so had been sofa surfing for a while.
Christian had some experience of working in the hospitality industry, but he was concerned that roles in this sector wouldn’t pay enough for him to live on.
The Fighting Chance has good contacts with employers and we knew of a company who accepted candidates who may not have the right qualifications or experience. This company looks for raw talent and a desire to succeed and for this they offer an opportunity for employees to become fully trained as chefs. They also pay the London living wage.
We supported Christian with his interview preparation, and arranged for him to have an informal meeting with the owner..
Christian impressed them and was taken on immediately.
