CASE STUDY: JIMMY

Jimmy was referred to us by Veterans Aid. Veterans Aid do fantastic work with Ex services/Veterans many of whom have experienced Substance Abuse ,Alcoholism and Homelessness.

Most are referred to us after completing a Treatment programme with Veterans Aid and this was the case for Jimmy. He was an extremely popular and hardworking member of the team on our course and since completing we have enrolled him on a Peer Mentor Course with the Probation service and he has also been put forward and met with Street league about working as a Coach with them.

Jimmy is doing well and has not lapsed since completing our course. See their review below.

I’ve referred a number of clients to The Fighting Chance in my role at the military charity, Veterans Aid, and all of the feedback I’ve received about the course has been fantastic.

Being ex-squaddies, the parallels my lads have drawn between the military and the boxing world are powerful – the discipline, the comradery within the group, the demanding fitness regime incorporated into their weekly structure.

As a result of completing the programme we’ve seen clients go on into paid work, voluntary work placements, and college courses. But just as significantly are the “soft outcomes” from which The Fighting Chance has been the catalyst; the improvement in individuals’ mental health, confidence and self esteem, in motivation to get back into employment, or even to get back into recovery from addiction issues.

I’d highly recommend this programme to anyone currently out of work who is looking for some extra support.
